Read MoreTwenty years on and employers are still having difficulty getting to grips with their obligations under the Working Time Regulations 1998. Employers often fall foul of the rules and put the health and safety of their workers at risk. There are implications too for the public such as where drivers are working without taking requisite breaks resulting in tiredness and lapses in concentration or worse. It is important that policies and procedures are in place and those that are are checked to ensure that the following rules have been incorporated.
data protection
A concerning number of individuals and companies are still unaware of the looming changes to data protection laws throughout the European Union and the United Kingdom (regardless of BREXIT). As of the 25th of May 2018 everyone must strictly comply with the new regulations or face significant fines. The most crucial changes to be initially aware of are:
Flood risk
The issues associated with property flood risk are a growing problem in the UK. Aside from the physical damage and cost caused by floods they can also bring stress, health risks, environmental damage and emotional turmoil.

THE COMMERCIAL LAW PRACTICE – A landmark year
2016 is a landmark year for The Commercial Law Practice because this year we celebrate our 10th anniversary.
During this time we have seen a few moves from Wimborne to Poundbury and now to our new home where we are fully established in the heart of Dorchester at Pullman Court next to Dorchester South Train Station. The practice had outgrown its former offices and moved strategically to this exciting central location. Convenient to reach for clients on foot, by train or car and with plenty of dedicated parking just outside.
In the last 10 years we have built a solid base of satisfied clients due to exceptional customer care, approachability and modern delivery of a traditional service. All our data is stored and backed up electronically enabling us to retrieve any information needed with the click of a button. Enquiries can often be answered immediately and every team member can access files to update clients on the current status of their matters.
But in this special year we wanted to give something back to the community and for our 10 year anniversary celebrations we chose two charity events to support.
On Sunday 10th April the Sunday Times published their first supplement listing the Top 175 Solicitors in the UK based on reviews on the independent consumer ratings website VouchedFor.co.uk. We are proud to say that Lee Wilkins was featured.
We are pleased to advise of our recent office move from Poundbury to Dorchester town centre. We are now at Pullman Court, Copper Street, Dorchester DT1 1GA. (T) 01305 544015 (E) lw@thecommerciallawpratice.com
